A. S. M. Sea Foods Exports

We spend most of our time down here in Therespuram, right by Kalavasal. It’s a busy spot, mostly smells like the ocean and wet nets. A. S. M. Sea Foods Exports isn't a big fancy operation with a glass front. It’s just us working at 5/205, getting things sorted and ready to ship out. Some days the weather is rough and the catch is thin, other days the trucks are lined up out front before the sun is even fully up. We handle a lot of different seafood, mostly whatever comes in from the local boats. It gets messy and loud, but that’s just how the business goes. My hands usually smell like fish even after I scrub them twice. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we have to check an order or talk to a buyer. Most of the work happens on the floor, sorting through crates and making sure everything is cold. We’ve been at this for a while now, just keeping our heads down and doing the work. People know where to find us if they need something sent overseas. It’s not an easy life, especially with the heat, but it’s what we know. We just try to get the crates packed right so they don't sit around too long. There isn't much to it besides showing up every morning and doing the same thing until it's done.
