Reliance Super Market

This Reliance Super Market is located at 511 V O C Street in Ponmalaipatti. Since it’s a bigger place, there is always a lot of work to do with the shelves and the billing counters. We spend a lot of our time walking up and down the aisles making sure things are in the right spots. The lighting is quite bright, which is different from the smaller shops around here. People come in from all over the neighborhood, especially on weekends when they have more time for a big shop. We have to keep an eye on the stock because things move fast, especially the snacks and the cooking oils. Sometimes the billing machine acts up and we have to enter codes by hand, which slows things down a bit. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we see our own neighbors coming through the lines. It’s a lot of lifting heavy boxes in the storage area and then trying to keep the front looking decent. The floor gets scuffed from all the carts, so someone is always sweeping or mopping. It’s a busy environment and you’re on your feet the whole shift. You hear a lot of different conversations while you work. It’s just a part of the daily routine on V O C Street. It gets pretty loud when the school nearby lets out and the kids come in for drinks.
