Kalamandir Arts & Crafts sits at 7/21 in Renganatha Puram, right here in Srirangam. It’s a quiet enough street most of the time, which is good for the kind of work we do. We have all sorts of traditional items and handmade things tucked away on our shelves. It’s not a modern gallery or anything like that. It feels more like a workshop where things have been collected over time. You might find some dust on the higher shelves, but that’s just how it goes when you have so many small pieces. People from around the area stop by when they need something specific for their homes or for a gift. Srirangam has a lot of history, and we feel like our little shop fits right in with that. We don't do much in the way of marketing. Most folks find us by word of mouth or just by walking past 7/21. The light comes in through the front in the afternoons and makes the whole place feel a bit warmer. We spend our days sorting through the crafts and talking to the people who make them. It’s a slow pace of life, but it suits the arts and crafts business. We aren't looking to expand into some big chain; we’re just happy being here in Renganatha Puram. It is a good place to be for this kind of work.
