Brs Electricals is located at 91, 2nd Cross in Kalyana Sundaram Nagar. We’re right there in the Karumandapam area, which is a quiet enough place most of the time. The shop is filled with all the usual electrical bits—switches, wires, bulbs, and things for fixing up houses. We don’t have a massive warehouse, so we use every bit of space we have, even stacking boxes in the corners or under the tables. It’s a hands-on kind of place. Most of the morning is spent checking what we sold the day before and seeing what needs to be ordered from the distributors. We get a mix of people coming in, from homeowners looking for a new light fixture to local contractors needing supplies for a big job. We don’t use any corporate jargon here; we just talk about what works and what doesn't. Sometimes the shop gets a bit dusty because of the roadwork nearby, so we’re always wiping down the glass counters. We’ve got a small stool for people to sit on if they have to wait for us to find a specific part in the back rooms. It’s a local business through and through. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names or at least their faces. We stay open until the evening, and then we lock up and head home like everyone else in the neighborhood. It’s just honest work, providing the parts people need to keep their lights on and fans spinning.
