We’ve been here at Ahar Ashetrya Bhavan for a while now. It's right by the Kila Ka Maidaan area in Tikamgarh. Mostly, we just keep the shelves stocked with whatever medicine people are looking for. It gets pretty busy in the mornings when folks come in with their prescriptions. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the hand fan, but we manage. The shop isn't fancy. Just some glass counters and lots of boxes. We know most of the people around Durgapura by their first names or at least their faces. Dealing with stock takes up a lot of our time, checking dates and making sure nothing is expired. It's a lot of paperwork actually. My cousin helps out in the afternoons. We see all sorts of people coming through the doors. Some are just looking for a band-aid or some cough syrup. Others have long lists from the hospital. We try to keep it organized so nobody has to wait too long in the heat. The floor needs a mop pretty often because of the dust from the road. It's just a regular part of life here. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down. Nothing too complicated about it. The walls could use a new coat of paint maybe, but we've been busy. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the narrow path near the Bhavan. It's just how it goes here in Tikamgarh. We usually have a tea break around four when things quiet down.
