Being near the station means there is always someone walking past the doors. The trains rattle the windows every now and then when they go through. We spend our hours looking at diamonds and gold rings under the lamps. It is quiet work mostly. The shopping complex gets busy on the weekends when people have time off from their jobs. We open up early and stay until the lights on the street come on. There is a lot of cleaning to do because of the dust from the road. We have stools for people to sit on while they look at the different designs. Sometimes they bring their kids and it gets a bit loud. We just show them what we have in the cases. Some of the pieces are very small and others are quite heavy. We have to keep track of everything in the ledgers. It is a lot of paperwork at the end of the month.
