Government Vocational Higher Secondary School

Government Vocational Higher Secondary School is out in Desamangalam, which is in the Thrissur district. Being a government school, we have a very specific way of doing things that hasn't changed much over the years. The campus is spread out with different buildings for the various vocational subjects we teach. It is a practical place where students come to learn skills they can actually use for work later on. We have some older equipment in the workshops and the classrooms are quite basic with simple benches and desks. The surroundings are fairly rural, so it feels very different from the schools in the middle of Thrissur town. We deal with a lot of students from the nearby villages who travel a long way to get here every morning. There is always a lot of dust from the playground and the noise of birds in the trees nearby. We do not have any big fancy signs or polished corridors. It is a bit rough around the edges, but it is where the learning happens for the kids in this area. The teachers here are mostly locals who understand the challenges the students face. We just follow the government syllabus and try to get everyone through their exams so they can find a good path for themselves. It is hard work, but it is just what happens here every day in Desamangalam.
