Gates

Our shop, which we call Gates, is at 26 Thondi Road in the Ambalappadi area. It’s a busy spot right on the main road, so there is always a lot of dust and noise from the buses and cars passing by. We’ve been at this location for a good number of years now. The building is pretty old and the paint is peeling in some places, but it gets the job done. We don't have a big corporate team or anyone in a fancy suit. It’s just a couple of us who know the inventory and how to help the people who walk through the door. We sell various parts and hardware that people around Ambalappadi need for their own projects or repairs. The shelves are quite tall and sometimes we have to climb up a shaky ladder to find what a customer wants. We don't have a fancy computer system to keep track of everything, so we mostly just remember where things are. It’s not the most modern way to run a business, but it works for us. We don't do any big promotions or try to act like we are the biggest shop in town. Most of our customers are people we see every week. They know we are just regular guys who will tell them the truth about what we have in stock. It’s a simple life on Thondi Road, and we are okay with that.
