Sri Kumaran Dhall Mill

Sri Kumaran Dhall Mill is at No: 783-V, Nadar Pettai 649, inside the Sidko Industrial, Statetutugudi. The air around here is always a bit thick with the dust from the milling process. We deal with large quantities of pulses, and the machinery we use is old but reliable. It makes a rhythmic thumping sound that you can hear from the road. The heat in Tutugudi can be pretty intense, so the interior of the mill gets very warm by midday. We have a crew of workers who handle the heavy sacks, stacking them up high in the warehouse area. The floor is concrete and always covered in a fine layer of grain dust. We don't have any fancy brochures or a corporate mission statement. We just show up and start the machines. Most of our business comes from long-standing relationships with traders who have been buying from us for years. The office is just a small wooden cabin built into the corner of the warehouse with a single fan and a lot of old files. We spend our time checking the quality of the dhall and making sure the bags are weighed correctly. It’s hard, physical work and there are no shortcuts. We just keep the mill running and do our best to stay on schedule with the shipments. When the trucks arrive for loading, everyone has to pitch in to get the job done before the sun sets and the day ends.
