Ganapathy Rice Mills

Out on No:5, Veeranam Road, you’ll find our place, Ganapathy Rice Mills. We’ve been operating in Veerakeralampudur for a long time, and Tenkasi Taluk is a good place to be for this kind of work. The mill isn’t anything special to look at, just a practical building where we process the paddy. It gets really loud inside once the motors start humming, so we mostly communicate with hand signals during the day. Working here means getting used to the heat and the constant fine dust that settles on everything. Farmers come by in the morning with their loads, and we spend the rest of the day getting it all sorted. Sometimes we have to stay late if a big shipment is expected, but that’s just part of the job. There’s a small tea stall down the road where we take our breaks when things quiet down for a minute. We don’t have a big corporate team, just a few of us making sure the bags are filled right. If the weather is bad, it slows everything down, which can be frustrating. We just keep our heads down and do the work as it comes. It’s a simple life, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythms of the seasons. No fancy talk here, just the sound of the hullers and the smell of fresh rice ready to be sent out.
