If you go to 3, R C Street in Neyyattinkara, you’ll find Sujith Provisional Store. It’s a small shop, and we’ve been here in this neighborhood for a long time. We mostly sell the basic things people need for their kitchens and homes. Every morning we open up the shutters and start arranging the bags of rice and other supplies. R C Street is a quiet place for the most part, but we have our regulars who come in every day to buy milk or tea leaves. We don't have fancy scanners or a complicated checkout system. It’s all very old-fashioned and simple. We write things down when we need to and keep track of what’s on the shelves by just looking at them. Neyyattinkara is a nice area to have a business like this because everyone knows everyone else. We don’t really need to advertise because people just know we’re at number 3. Sometimes the shop feels a bit small when a lot of people come in at once, but we make it work. We spend our time chatting with the neighbors and making sure we haven't run out of the essentials. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The building is simple, the shelves are plain, and we just keep things moving one day at a time. It’s a decent way to live and work.
