Natural Spices

Operating out of Bapuji Nagar has its ups and downs because it’s a residential area mostly, but it keeps things calm. Natural Spices is located in the Pongumoodu part of town and we’ve been here for a while now. We don't have a big factory or anything like that, just a clean space where we can dry out the ingredients and get them ready for grinding. The smell of ginger and peppercorns is always hanging in the air around our house. My wife and I handle most of the daily tasks, like sorting through the raw materials to pick out the stones or bits of stem that shouldn't be there. It’s tedious work and it makes your fingers smell like cloves for days, but it has to be done. We don't use any fancy packaging with bright colors, just plain bags that we seal up with a small heat press. Sometimes the machine jams and we have to fix it with a bit of wire. We don’t really have a set schedule, we just work until the day’s batch is finished and then we close up the shop. People from the neighborhood often stop by to chat while we are working outside. It's a very local thing and we aren't looking to change much about how we do things. We just stay busy and hope the rain stays away when we have things drying.
