National Engineering

We are set up at 2 C on Aramthanam Road in Vamanapuram. It’s a straightforward location and not too hard to find if you know the road. The workshop has been here for a while, and it shows in the way the floors are worn down in certain spots. We have our tools and our benches all laid out. It’s not a polished environment by any means. There’s usually a bit of oil on the floor and the smell of metal in the air. We start early, usually when the air is still a bit cool. Most of the day is spent fixing things or putting parts together. It can be quite noisy when the machines are running, so we have to shout sometimes to be heard over the racket. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep our records and a calendar that’s usually a month behind. It is a practical space for practical work. We don’t spend money on fancy paint or nice furniture because it would just get ruined. People in Vamanapuram know us as the place on Aramthanam Road where work gets done. We have a tea kettle in the back that gets a lot of use throughout the day. It is a simple life, working with our hands and seeing a project through to the end. We just keep our heads down and get on with the job.
