Kunnil Hypermarket

Our place, Kunnil Hypermarket, sits right at number 1023 at the Kuravankonam Junction. Being at the junction means it is never really quiet. There is a constant hum of traffic and people calling out to each other. We have a lot of space inside, but it quickly fills up with crates and boxes of stock that arrive throughout the week. We don't have a polished corporate image. Usually, we are just running around in our everyday clothes trying to make sure things are where they belong. The lighting inside is bright, which helps us see the dust that we are constantly trying to sweep away. We get all kinds of people coming in, from students to elderly folks who have lived at this junction for decades. We don't have a big plan or a fancy philosophy. We just want to make sure there is milk in the fridge and bread on the shelf when someone needs it. The staff is just a bunch of local people who live nearby. We take turns taking breaks in the small room in the back where we keep our bags and tiffins. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road and people get impatient, so we have to go out and help move things along. It’s a busy life here at the junction, but we are used to the noise and the crowds. We just keep doing our part to keep the place running every single day.
