Building Materials Consumer Store

Our store is part of the Cooperative Society over in Vattaplamoodu, near the Thokkadu Post Office in Varkala. We sell basic building materials that people around here need for their houses. It’s a small operation, and we keep things pretty simple. You won't find any high-tech gadgets or fancy displays here. We have bags of cement, some sand, bricks, and basic hardware. Most of our customers are neighbors or local builders who are working on small projects nearby. The store is at C/1645, and it’s a bit tucked away, but most folks in Varkala know the Cooperative Society buildings. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading trucks. It’s physical work, and we aren't getting any younger. Sometimes we run out of certain items if the supply truck from the city is late, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. We try to stay organized, but with so many heavy items, the floor usually has a layer of dust on it. We don't use any fancy computer systems for our sales; just a ledger and some pens. It’s been that way for a long time. People come in, ask for what they need, we load it up, and they go. It’s a quiet life here in Thokkadu, and we like being part of the local community. We just provide the stuff people need to build their homes and fix their walls. It is a steady pace.
