Aashi Store

If you are driving down the Kattakkada Kottoor Road, you will pass our shop right in the middle of Poovachal. It is a small store, mostly selling the basic essentials for the families living around here. We have got bread, milk, eggs, and the usual snacks that the kids ask for when they are walking home after school is over. I have lived in Poovachal for most of my life, so opening a store here just felt like the right thing to do. The road stays very busy with people heading toward the Kottoor area, so we get a lot of travelers stopping for a cold soda or a pack of biscuits to eat on the way. The building is quite old, but the thick walls keep it cool inside even when the summer sun is really hitting the hot pavement outside. I usually sit on a stool near the front door so I can see who is coming in and out. Sometimes the heavy rains make it hard for the big delivery trucks to get through the narrow parts of the road, so we might run a little low on some items for a day or two. My wife comes in to help out in the evenings when the crowd of people getting off work gets thicker. We do not use those fancy barcode scanners; I just write everything down in a big paper ledger. It keeps the mind sharp. There is a large mango tree nearby that provides some good shade for bikers.
