Being up here in Kotagiri is quite different from working in a big city. Skillmein Info Tech Private Limited is located at Villa No. 5/8U on Thanthanadu Road. One of the best things about it is being near the Selakkal Tea Factory. On some days, you can smell the tea being processed, which is much better than smelling car exhaust all day. The office is basically a converted villa, so it feels more like a house than a workplace. We have a few rooms set up with desks and monitors. It can get quite cold in the mornings, so we usually start the day with a hot drink before we even look at the computers. The road outside isn't too busy, mostly just local traffic and the occasional truck from the factory. We aren't a huge corporation with thousands of employees. We are just a small team of people who decided that working in the hills was a better idea than being stuck in traffic for hours. It’s a quiet life, but the work we do on the technical side is just as serious as anywhere else. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow when the weather turns bad, but we manage. It’s a decent place to spend the day, and we like the pace of things around here. It feels more natural to work this way, surrounded by green instead of concrete. It is a simple life for us.
