The Construction Store

Our shop is tucked into Sector 15 in Ghansoli, specifically at 16 Green Palm, Plot No. 18/19. If you know where the Nmmc Bus Depot is, we are just a short walk from there. We called it The Construction Store because we wanted to keep things simple. There’s no point in having a complicated name when you’re just selling tools and supplies for building stuff. Navi Mumbai is always growing, so there’s always something going on around us. It can get pretty loud with the buses and the traffic, but you get used to it after a while. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze. We try to keep the tools on one side and the heavier stuff on the other, but things tend to migrate as the day goes on. We’re just a handful of people working here, mostly just trying to make sure we have what people need when they stop by on their way to a job site. We don’t have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters. We just write down what we sold in a ledger and keep going. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. It’s a relaxed place, really. We know most of the local contractors by their first names and usually have a bit of a chat while they’re picking up their supplies. It’s not a perfect system, but it works for us. We just keep the doors open and do our work. We aren't going anywhere.
