Mahavir Furniture is right there opposite the road signal in Anand Nagar, Thane West. You can't really miss it if you're waiting at the light. We have chairs and tables and cupboards lined up inside. The smell of saw dust and wood polish is pretty strong most days. It’s a bit of a cramped space because we try to fit a lot of inventory in so people have choices. We aren't like those big air-conditioned malls. We keep the doors open to the street. Sometimes the dust from the signal comes in, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the glass tops and the wooden frames. People wander in while they're walking home from the station or waiting for a bus. They touch the wood, check the joints, and ask about the price. We don’t do those high-pressure sales. If you like a sofa, you like it. We have some local guys who help with the deliveries on their handcarts or small tempos. It’s a local business through and through. We’ve seen Anand Nagar grow quite a bit since we opened. The signal outside got busier, but we’re still here in the same spot. It’s a decent place to work, even if it gets a bit noisy with all the honking. We just focus on the furniture. Most of our pieces are solid and meant for real homes where people actually sit and use their things every day.
