Our office is on the 1st floor of the Godavari building which is part of the Laxmi Industrial Premises Co-Op Society in Vartak Nagar. Thane has changed a lot over the years but this industrial estate still feels the same as it always has with various workshops and small companies all piled on top of each other. Getting up to the first floor involves a set of concrete stairs that are a bit narrow but once you are inside our space is actually quite organized. We have different sections for the tech work and a small area where we keep the paperwork filed away in metal cabinets. The windows look out over the society courtyard so we can see who is coming and going throughout the day. It’s not a fancy place with glass walls or anything but it serves our purpose for the kind of technical work we do here. Sometimes the neighbors are doing some heavy drilling or moving crates around and the whole floor vibrates a little but we are used to it by now. We usually keep the fans running at full speed because it gets stuffy in the afternoons. Most of us have been working here for a long time so we don't need to say much to get the day started. We just check the list of what needs doing and get to it while listening to the radio or just the general hum of the industrial area.
