Poornima Handicraft-Graduation Project

This whole thing started as a graduation project back in Kalyan, Maharashtra. We set up at the address 421301 and just never really stopped once the grades were in. It’s a small space, mostly filled with scraps of wood, fabric, and tools that we’ve collected over the last few years. The floor is almost always covered in sawdust or thread, no matter how much we sweep. It’s not a big factory or anything like that. It’s just us working on different handicraft pieces whenever we have the time. Sometimes the ideas work out, and sometimes they don't, but that’s just how it goes when you’re figuring things out on your own. Kalyan can be pretty loud during the day, so we often have the radio playing in the background to drown out the street noise. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of friends who help out with the heavier lifting and the finishing touches. The shelves are getting a bit crowded with prototypes that we never quite finished. We mostly just focus on one thing at a time and try to get it right before moving on. It’s a bit messy and the hours are long, but it feels good to be making things with our own hands instead of sitting in an office all day. We’re still learning how to manage the business side of things, but for now, the workshop is our main focus.
