Natural Ice Cream Parlour

You can find us at Natural Ice Cream Parlour, which is Shop No 1 in the Satyam Apartment building. We’re tucked into Thakur Complex in Kandivali East, not far from the Avenue Hotel. It’s a pretty busy little corner of the world. The shop isn't very big, so things can feel a bit cramped when we get a group of people in at the same time. Most of our day is spent behind the counter, scooping and making sure the lids are back on the tubs so the frost doesn't build up too much. The freezers make this low humming sound that you eventually stop hearing after a few hours. We get a lot of people who are just out for a walk in Thakur Complex or coming back from the hotel nearby. Sometimes the neighbors from Satyam Apartment pop in just to say hello. It's a simple life. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass displays and checking the temperature settings. It's funny how much you end up worrying about a few degrees on a thermometer. When the monsoons come, it gets a bit messy with people bringing in wet umbrellas, so we’re always mopping the entrance. It’s just me and a couple of others most of the time. We aren’t trying to be anything we’re not. We just keep the shop open and the freezers cold and see who comes through the door.
