K. C. Craft

K. C. Craft is tucked away in the Mahalaxmi Industrial Estate over in Vasai East. We are in the A-wing, and it can be a bit hard to find us if you don't know the area well. Navghar is a busy spot with trucks constantly moving in and out of the industrial zones. Our space isn't very big, so we have to stack our materials high up on the shelves to make room for the worktables. There is usually the sound of some machine running or someone hammering something in the background. We aren't a big corporation with departments or HR people. It’s just a handful of us making things. We get to work early before it gets too hot because the tin roof makes the place like an oven by the afternoon. We take turns bringing snacks for the afternoon break. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to sit and wait for it to come back on. That’s just how it is here. We focus on the crafts we know how to make and we don't try to overcomplicate things. The floor is concrete and has some stains from paint and glue, but it works for us. We've stayed in this spot because the neighbors are decent and we know the delivery drivers. We just keep our heads down and finish the work we have for the day.
