Hello Kids

Hello Kids is located in Manisha Nagar, which is a busy little pocket of Kalwa in Thane. We operate out of a space that feels very much like a part of the neighborhood. Since we are a preschool, the days are short but very packed. You’ll hear a lot of singing and the occasional crying when someone doesn't want to share a toy. The staff here are mostly women from nearby who have a lot of patience. We have different corners for different activities, like building blocks or drawing. It’s not a huge place, so we have to stay organized to keep things from getting too messy. Manisha Nagar is a tight-knit area, so we often see the same parents at the local market after work. The walk to the school involves navigating some narrow streets, but everyone knows where we are. We have some colorful decorations on the walls to make it look cheerful for the little ones. It’s a very hands-on job. We spend our time helping kids with their lunchboxes and making sure they get picked up on time. It feels more like a community center than a formal institution. There’s always a bit of chaos, but it’s the good kind. We don’t have a big corporate office telling us what to do; we just manage things ourselves day by day. It is just life in Kalwa.
