Goatshala India Farm is based in Thane at Azad Nagar. Our office is at 103, Raigad Chawl, which is right near the Vitthal Mandir. Most of our actual work happens at the farm in the Manpada area. We deal with goats and it is a job that never really stops. Goats need a lot of looking after, from their feeding to making sure they are healthy. It is hard work and you are on your feet from sunrise. The noise and the smell of the farm are things we don't even notice anymore. We are a small team and we do everything ourselves. We don't have any marketing people or a fancy office. The room in Raigad Chawl is just where we keep the records and have our tea. We spend a lot of time talking about the price of feed and the weather. The neighbors around the chawl are friendly and we often see them on their way to the temple. Sometimes a goat gets sick and we have to stay up all night to take care of it. It is not an easy way to make a living but it is what we chose to do. We don't have a mission statement or any corporate talk. We just focus on the animals and try to make the farm work one day at a time. It is a very practical and basic business.
