Chaitanya Medical

Chaitanya Medical is a small shop at number 1 on the Kalyan Shilphata Road. We are right in the Kalyan East area, near the Tata Power station. If you know the road, you know it gets very dusty with all the trucks and traffic heading towards Thane. We’ve got the shop stocked from floor to ceiling with all sorts of medicines and daily stuff people might need. I spend a lot of time on my feet, reaching for boxes on the high shelves or checking the expiry dates on the strips. It’s a busy road, so we get a lot of people stopping their bikes or cars quickly to grab a bandage or some fever medicine. The shop isn't very big, so we have to be careful about where we put everything. Sometimes it feels like a bit of a maze in here. We open early and stay open quite late because you never know when someone is going to need something from a chemist. We have a small fridge for the injections and a counter that’s seen better days, but it does the job. My brother helps me out in the afternoons so I can grab a quick lunch. We don't do any big advertising. People just see the sign when they are stuck in traffic or walking home from work. It’s a simple life, running a medical store on a busy road, but it keeps us connected to the people living around Tata Power.
