We run A K Icecreams Llp out of Flat No 101 in the Navgarh Building. We are located in the Poonam Sagar Complex on Mira Road East, over in Vasai. It's a busy part of Thane. Working with ice cream means we are always thinking about the temperature. We have to keep an eye on the freezers all day and night. If the power fluctuates, we start to worry. It’s a small operation, mostly family and a few helpers. The flat is a bit full of equipment, but we make it work. It's a bit noisy when the compressors are running hard in the summer. We started this because everyone likes a cold treat, especially when it’s as hot as it gets in Maharashtra. We spend a lot of time cleaning things. Sticky floors are just part of the job when you handle sweets. It’s not always easy, and sometimes the deliveries are a headache because of the Mira Road traffic. We aren't some big brand you see on TV. We’re just local people trying to make decent ice cream. Our neighbors in Poonam Sagar are used to seeing us coming and going with insulated boxes. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy tubs and keeping everything hygienic. We just take it one day at a time here in 401107. We mostly hope for no power cuts so the stock stays frozen.
