Mm Marble & Granite

Down in Iritty, in the Nerambokku area, you’ll find Mm Marble & Granite. It’s a local place where we deal with all sorts of stone slabs every day. The environment here is pretty relaxed, though the work itself is quite heavy. We have marble and granite sitting out, and every day we’re moving them around to make space for more. It’s a lot of manual labor, but we’re used to the weight of it. People from around the town come in when they’re building or fixing things up. We don't really have a big fancy office, just a place to sit and talk about what’s in stock. Sometimes the stone arrives from the quarry and it’s not exactly what we expected, so we just have to sort through it and see what’s good. We don't try to make it sound better than it is. Stone is stone. It has its flaws and its beauty, and we just show it as it is. The rain in Iritty can be quite something, and we have to make sure everything stays safe when the ground gets slippery. It’s just a small operation here, focusing on the tasks at hand and making sure we don't make mistakes with the measurements. We’ve been at it for a while and we just take each day as it comes. It isn't always exciting, but it keeps us busy and the yard is always full.
