Down here on Mangalagiri Road, things stay pretty steady at Nri Medical College. We’re located in Chinakakani, which isn't the biggest spot on the map, but we’ve got plenty going on within these walls. The walk into work usually involves avoiding a few puddles if it’s been raining, and the air smells like the local fields most mornings. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. The buildings are solid, and they’ve seen a lot of students come and go over the years. You’ll find most of us gathered near the main entrance around lunchtime, just catching a break. The road outside can get a bit loud with the trucks passing by, but you get used to the hum after a week or two. It’s a bit of a trek for some folks to get out here, but once you arrive, there’s a sense of just getting down to work. We don’t have much in the way of glitz or glamour, just old desks, long hallways, and a lot of people trying to learn things. Sometimes the electricity acts up when the weather gets heavy, but we manage just fine. It’s a quiet life in Chinakakani for the most part, and we like the pace of things at the college. We keep the floors swept and the doors open, and that’s about the long and short of it. Every day feels a bit like the one before.
