Up here in Tamenglong, things move at their own pace. Khoupum Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited started because we needed a better way to handle our crops. Majasin Kamei is where you’ll find us if you come looking. The hills around here are beautiful but they make moving stuff around pretty tough. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, following what our parents did. We don't use much fancy machinery because it's hard to get it up the roads. We’re just a small group trying to help the farmers in the area get a fair deal. Some days we spend more time talking about the road conditions than the actual farming. It’s not a big business with a lot of employees. It’s more like a community thing. We gather at Majasin’s place and talk about which seeds worked and which didn't last year. There’s no big secret to what we do. We just want to make sure the food we grow gets to people who need it. The rainy season is always a worry for us because it can wash out the crops or block the paths for weeks. We just take it as it comes. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. We aren't experts in marketing, we just know how to grow things in the Tamenglong soil and hope for the best.
