Rajarajan Candles

If you walk down 6th Cross Street in Ranganathapuram, you’ll find our little place, Rajarajan Candles. We are at No.9, and you can usually tell where we are by the faint smell of wax in the air. Tambaram is a busy area, but our street is a bit more tucked away. We’ve been making candles here for quite some time now. It’s not a big factory; it’s more like a workshop where we do everything by hand. The floors are a bit sticky sometimes from the wax, and we have various molds drying on the tables. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most people just come to the door or call us when they need a batch of candles for a ceremony or home use. The work is repetitive, melting the wax and setting the wicks, but there’s something nice about it. My hands are usually a bit messy by the time evening rolls around. We’ve got a couple of guys who help out when orders get heavy during the festival seasons. During those times, we stay up late into the night just to keep up. It’s a local business through and through. We know most of the neighbors, and they often stop by just to say hello or see what we’re making. It’s a simple life here in Tambaram, and we are quite happy with how things are going at our little shop on the corner.
