Delson (India) Foods

Our place is in Phase-3 of the GIDC estate, at C-1/616. It is a standard industrial unit where we handle all our food products. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell—it changes depending on what we are processing that week. We spend a lot of time making sure everything is clean because, with food, you cannot be messy. The floors are scrubbed every day, and everyone has to follow the basic rules about hairnets and washing up. It is a lot of repetitive work, packing things into boxes and sealing them up, but we have a good rhythm going. Delson (India) Foods is a small operation compared to the giants, but we stay busy. There is a tiny office up a small flight of stairs where we handle the orders and talk to the suppliers. It is usually cluttered with samples and half-empty boxes of tea. The loading area out front is small, so we have to be careful when the delivery trucks come in so they do not block the whole road. We usually have lunch together in the small area near the back. It is not a fancy life, working in a GIDC estate, but it is steady. We just focus on making sure the food is good and the bags are sealed right before they head out to the shops. It is just us, doing our thing in Phase-3 every day.
