Vikash Saree Centre

You can find Vikash Saree Centre at 2046 Rustampura. It’s a bit of a trek if you’re coming from the other side of town, but we’ve been in this building for a long time. The shop is filled with sarees from floor to ceiling. There isn't much empty space on the walls because we try to keep as much variety as we can. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bundles and organizing them by material and color. My hands are usually tired by the end of the day from all the folding. The street outside is narrow, so it feels very tucked away. We don’t have a huge air conditioner, just a couple of fans that keep the air moving. We get a lot of regular customers who live just a few streets away. They know us by name, and we usually know what they are looking for before they even ask. It’s a practical way to run a business. We don’t spend money on fancy ads or anything like that. We just make sure the sarees are there and that we are here when the door opens in the morning. Sometimes the power goes out in the neighborhood, so we keep some candles and a flashlight behind the counter just in case. It’s just how things are in this part of Rustampura, and we are quite used to it.
