Umiya Kirana Stores

Umiya Kirana Stores is right here on Ullala Main Road in the Jnana Jyothi Nagar area. We’ve been serving the Palanpur and Vishwavidyalaya 1 neighborhood for quite a while. It’s a typical grocery store, nothing too special to look at from the outside. Inside, it’s mostly bags of rice, different kinds of lentils, and all the daily stuff people need for their kitchens. We open up early because that’s when people want their milk and bread. The shelves are a bit crowded and sometimes it’s hard to find exactly what you want without asking us. We know most of the people who come in by their names. It’s a lot of lifting heavy sacks and weighing out sugar or flour. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. We don't have a delivery truck or a big staff. It’s usually just family members helping out behind the counter. Sometimes we run out of things if the supply truck is late, but we manage. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit and makes a clicking sound all day. It’s just a regular life running a shop in this part of town. We don't do any big advertising. People just know we are here when they run out of salt or tea. We keep our books by hand and try to make sure everyone leaves with what they came for.
