Suraj Traders

At 4/1027 Begampura, things stay pretty busy from Monday to Saturday. We are Suraj Traders, and mostly we just deal with whatever goods are coming in and out that week. The space is filled with boxes and bags, and sometimes it's hard to find a place to sit down for lunch. We’ve been in this part of Begampura for a long time, so we know most of the people who walk past our door every morning. It isn't a fancy setup. We have a desk that’s seen better days and a couple of ledgers that we still use to keep track of things. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit by the doorway to catch the light. People stop by to ask about prices or to see if a shipment arrived, and we tell them what we know. It’s a lot of waiting for trucks and then a lot of heavy lifting once they show up. My back usually aches by five o’clock, but that is part of the job. We don’t spend much time worrying about the decor or making the place look polished. As long as the stock is moving and the accounts are mostly right, we are happy enough. It is just a regular trading business where we try to stay honest and keep the shelves from being empty for too long. Sometimes we even close up early if the rain gets too heavy.
