Steamhouse Care Foundation

You’ll find us at Plot No. 8108/1 on Road No. 2 in the GIDC area of Sachin, Surat. It’s an industrial zone, so it’s not the prettiest place, but it’s where the work happens. There are trucks going by all day and the sound of machinery in the distance. We like being in the middle of it. Our care foundation was started by people who actually work in these industries. We saw that there were gaps in how people were being looked after, so we decided to do something ourselves. We didn't want to wait for someone else to come in. Our office is just a small building on the plot. It’s functional. We have a few desks, some chairs, and a kettle that’s always on. We spend a lot of time out on the factory floors or talking to the workers in the area. It’s not about sitting in an air-conditioned room all day. We deal with the heat and the dust just like everyone else. We don’t have any slick presentations to show you. We just have our record of what we’ve done so far. It’s a practical approach. If something is broken, we try to fix it. If someone is struggling, we try to help. It’s about being there for each other in an environment that can be pretty tough sometimes. We aren't experts, just people who care about what happens here.
