Southern Gujarat Confectionery Works

Our workshop is located over on Udhna Unapani Road, specifically at the address Lal Gate A/5. Southern Gujarat Confectionery Works is the place where we spend almost all of our waking hours during the week. It is a space that is usually filled with the various smells and sounds of making sweets and different kinds of treats. We don't have a high-tech factory with fancy robots. Most of the work is done by hand or with some older machines that we have looked after and repaired for many years. The area around Lal Gate is always incredibly busy, so there is a constant noise coming in from the main street. We have grown used to it by now and barely even notice the honking of the trucks anymore. In the early mornings, we get all the ingredients ready and start the day’s production cycle. It is often very repetitive work, but there is a certain rhythm to it that feels right to us. We don't spend any money on big advertisements or fancy designs for our packaging. We just make the confectionery and get it ready for whoever needs to buy it. Sometimes the heat from the large cooking pots makes the room very warm and uncomfortable, but we just keep the ceiling fans going and continue with the work. It is a simple life focused on food and getting our daily orders filled on time for the people who rely on us.
