Shri Sai Kirana And General Store

Down in Surat, in the Shiv Nagar area of Tadwadi, you’ll find our little kirana store. We are right on Chaprabhatha Road, which stays busy most of the day. The shop is basically one large room packed with everything from rice and oil to school notebooks and small toys. It’s a family-run thing, so you’ll usually see one of us sitting at the counter from morning until late at night. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that try their best to keep the air moving. The humidity here can be a real problem for the stock, so we have to be careful about how we store things so they stay fresh. We don't have a computer system, so we still use a pen and paper for everything. A lot of the kids from the neighborhood come in for small candies or cheap snacks after school. We know most of the parents too, and we often hear all the local gossip while we are weighing out their pulses. The shop is a bit old, and some of the tiles on the floor are cracked, but it doesn't bother anyone who comes here. It’s a place where you can get what you need and have a quick chat before heading home. We aren't trying to compete with the big stores; we just do our own thing here for the local community.
