Shri Ji Camera

Shri Ji Camera is easy to find if you're on Bombay Market Road. We are on the main road, right near Renuka Bhavan. It’s a lively part of town. We’ve been handling cameras for a long time now. People bring in everything from old film cameras their grandfathers owned to the new digital ones that have too many buttons. We like the old ones better, to be honest. They have more character. Most of the day is spent looking through lenses or trying to find why a shutter won't click. It’s fiddly work and you need steady hands. We have a small counter where we talk to customers. Sometimes we get distracted talking about photography instead of actually fixing the gear. There are boxes of lenses and tripods all over the place. It looks disorganized but there is a system to it. We don't do much advertising; people just hear about us from their friends. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city. We just want to make sure the cameras that come in here leave working again. If it's a lost cause, we'll say so. No use charging for something that won't hold up. We keep a pot of tea going most mornings. It’s a small shop but it’s ours. We’ve seen plenty of shops come and go on this street, but we’re still here doing our thing.
