Sarvodaya Stores

Chauta Bazaar is a very old part of Surat. Sarvodaya Stores is located at Shop No 11/2574 on Dr Mohanlal Dixit Road. We are quite close to the Sai Baba Temple and the Khand Bazars, so the area is always smelling like incense and sweets. It’s a narrow building, and we’ve been here for many years. The address says 395003, but most people just follow the crowds in the bazaar to find us. We stock a lot of different things, and sometimes even I forget what is hidden in the back corners. The stairs to the upper storage are steep and narrow. It’s a bit of a challenge when we get a big shipment of goods. Surat is a hot city, so we try to keep the shop as airy as possible, though it's hard with all the boxes around. We don't have any big marketing plans. People walk by, see what they need, and come in. We’ve known some of our customers since they were children. Now they bring their own kids. It’s a nice feeling. The shop front is a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. It’s just a regular local business. We keep the prices fair and the talk honest. That’s how we’ve always done it. It’s a long day on our feet, but seeing the community every day makes it worth the effort. The old fan above the counter squeaks, but it still works well enough to keep us going through the afternoon rush.
