Working in the Varachha and Katargam area keeps us pretty busy at Om Medical. This part of town is known for being active at all hours, and the shop is right in the middle of that flow. It is a simple setup with rows of medicines and a sturdy counter that has seen a lot of use over the years. I usually open the shutters early in the morning and stay until the street lights have been on for a long time. The space inside is mostly filled with the tall wooden racks we use to keep everything organized. Katargam can be a noisy place, but inside the shop, it stays relatively quiet except for the sound of the ceiling fan. I spend my time writing out bills in a ledger and chatting with the people who come in. Many of them work in the local industries around Varachha, so they are often in a hurry to get home. We don't have any bright lights or flashy decorations on the walls, just the necessities for running a pharmacy. The stool I sit on has a bit of a squeak when I move, and the back door leads to a small storage room that is always a bit cooler than the front. It is just a basic shop where we do our daily business and help the people in this part of Katargam. We see the same faces week after week, which makes the long hours feel a bit more like being part of a community.
