Nimesh Jariwala

Our place is number 9 inside the Khatodara AC Market. It’s right on Tardeo Road, not too far from the CNG gas center. If you know that area, you know it can get pretty busy with all the cars and people moving around. Nimesh Jariwala is basically just me and a couple of others working in this small space. The market can be quite a hum of activity, especially during the middle of the day. We spend a lot of time sitting here with the light from the shopfronts coming in. The air conditioning in the market is usually running, which is a relief when the Gujarat heat starts to kick in outside. We have our shelves filled with the things we need, and there isn't much room for anything else. The Tardeo Road traffic is something you just learn to ignore after a few weeks. Sometimes we step out to the gas center area just to stretch our legs and get some air. It’s a very functional spot. We don’t have any fancy art on the walls or anything like that. It is just a place to get work done and meet the people who come by to see us. It’s been our home base for a while now, and we’ve gotten to know the other shop owners nearby. It’s just a regular day-to-day existence in the market. We take our lunch breaks together and talk about whatever is happening in the news. It’s not much, but it’s our corner of the city.
