L. Amratlal Gonawala & Sons

Our place is located at Block Number 492, specifically on Plot Number 2. If you know where T.M. Patel Mills is, we are right behind it. It’s a bit of an industrial area, so it gets loud with the machines running nearby. We’ve been operating under the name L. Amratlal Gonawala & Sons for many years now. It is a family business through and through. My father started things, and now the sons are involved in every part of the daily work. We handle a lot of different things depending on what our customers need that day. The building is old but sturdy. We spend a lot of time checking orders and making sure the inventory is where it should be. It’s not the kind of place people visit for fun, but if you have business with us, you know exactly where to find the gate. The sun hits the front of the plot pretty hard in the afternoons. We usually have a few trucks coming in and out during the week. It’s a lot of physical work, moving things around and keeping track of the books. We don't use a lot of technology, mostly just pens, paper, and hard work. Everyone knows everyone else around these blocks. We just keep our heads down and do what needs doing to keep the family name going. It’s a long day but it is okay.
