Kushal Hospital

Down in Surat, over at the Manohar Complex in Saiyadpura, you will find Kushal Hospital. It is a place that stays busy from the early morning until late at night. The lobby usually has a few people sitting on the benches, waiting for their turn or just resting for a bit. There is that distinct hospital smell of disinfectant and medicine that hits you as soon as you walk through the doors. The tiles on the floor are a bit worn down from so many people walking over them every day. We have various rooms and corridors that can get a little confusing if you are not familiar with the layout. Outside, the streets of Surat are always buzzing with bikes and people going to the markets, but inside we try to keep things a bit more orderly. Sometimes the power goes out for a minute before the generator kicks in, which is just something we are used to in this area. The staff is always moving around, carrying clipboards or checking on patients in the different wards. I have a small office tucked away where I try to keep up with the paperwork, though the files seem to multiply when I am not looking. It is a practical place where we focus on the people coming in for help. It is not a five-star hotel, just a local hospital doing its thing in the neighborhood.
