We run Yomi Embroidery from our unit at No. 1 Kohinoor Society. It is right opposite G. K. Chambers on Varrachha Road, so it is a busy area with a lot of traffic. We spend our days working on different embroidery designs for clothes. The machines make a lot of noise, but we are used to it by now. People bring us their fabrics and we do the thread work they need. Sometimes it is simple stuff, other times it takes a lot longer to get the patterns right. We have a few people who have been working with us for a long time. It is a small place, so we have to be careful about how we use the space. Varrachha Road is always full of activity, which keeps us busy too. We don't do much advertising; most people just hear about us from their friends or other shops nearby. We keep the thread reels lined up on the walls and there is always some project going on the tables. Sometimes we stay late to finish a batch if someone needs it urgently. It is just a regular embroidery workshop. We focus on the work in front of us and try not to get distracted by the noise outside. If the power goes out, we have to wait, which can be annoying, but that is part of living here. We try to keep the designs neat and the customers happy enough to come back.
