Jai Bhavani Farsan Mart

Our shop is located on Lambe Hanuman Road, specifically at the spot marked 65-66 in the Athwa area. We spend most of our time standing around the big frying vats. If you walk down this road, you can usually smell the farsan before you even see the sign for Jai Bhavani Farsan Mart. We do things the old way, mostly because that is how we first learned the trade. There is a lot of chopping and mixing that has to happen before the sun even comes up. It is hard work and the kitchen area gets very hot, especially during the summer months. We do not have fancy packaging or some big marketing plan. We just put the snacks into clear plastic bags and stack them up on the shelves for people to see. People come in for their daily snacks or when they have guests coming over for tea. Sometimes the shop gets so full of people that they have to wait outside on the sidewalk for a bit. We try to move as fast as we can, but good food just takes the time it takes. The road outside is always busy with traffic, so there is a lot of honking and noise. We just stay focused on the stove and the snacks. It is a simple life, making food for the neighborhood. We have been at this spot for years and it feels like home.
