The Institute Of Civil Engineers & Architects is based at Gordhan Hall within the Suryapur Society on Rander Road. It’s a place where we spend a lot of time looking at blueprints and talking about construction. We aren't a big flashy school; it’s more of a practical space for people interested in the trade. The building itself is quite plain and fits right into the society. We have some drawing boards and computers that are used all day long. Rander Road is usually busy, so there’s always a bit of background noise from the traffic. We don't bother with a lot of fancy decorations in the hall. We think the work should speak for itself. It’s mostly about the math and the design of buildings. People come here to learn or to collaborate on local projects. We have a small staff who have been in the industry for years, so we’ve seen a lot of changes in how things are built. It’s a simple atmosphere where you can just focus on civil engineering or architecture without any distractions. We don’t use a lot of corporate jargon here. We just explain things as they are. If you visit, you’ll likely see a bunch of us hunched over tables or arguing about a specific design detail. It’s just how we work.
