Computer Operator

My workplace is over at Essar in Hazira, which is part of Surat. If you know Gujarat, you know this area is all about industry. Being a computer operator here is a bit different because of the scale of the place. It's dusty and loud outside, but in my little corner, it’s just me and the monitor. I handle the daily entries and whatever else needs doing on the computer. The commute into Hazira can be a bit of a pain sometimes with all the trucks on the road, but I've gotten used to it over the years. I don't have a fancy title, just Computer Operator. People come to me when they need something typed up or a report finished. I’ve seen a lot of changes around the Essar site, but my desk stays pretty much the same. I like that it's a straightforward job. I show up, do the work, and head home. There’s a lot of activity in Surat, and Hazira is right at the heart of the industrial side. My office is practical, nothing more. I have my folders and my keyboard. Sometimes the internet is slow, which is frustrating, but we manage. I’ve been at this location for a good while now. It feels like home in a way, despite all the metal and concrete. Just another day at the keyboard in Gujarat. I keep a bottle of water on the desk and try to stay productive until the shift ends.
