Chodvadia Piyush

The shop is at 108 Kadodara Bazar Ward, inside the Bhagavati Complex. We are right across from the telephone exchange and not far from the spinning mill. It’s a very industrial part of the area, so you always hear the hum of the machines and the trucks moving back and forth. My name is Chodvadia Piyush and I spend most of my waking hours right here in the complex. The Bhagavati building is older, but it’s sturdy. We have a lot of different businesses in here, so it gets quite crowded around lunchtime when everyone goes out to the stalls nearby. I keep a small stove in the back to make my own tea throughout the afternoon. The air around the mill can get a bit heavy, so I try to keep the windows shut when the wind blows from that direction. I don't have a lot of fancy decorations on the walls, just some calendars and a clock that runs a few minutes fast. People know me in the bazar as someone who just sticks to the work. I don't do a lot of talking unless it's about the job at hand. It’s a practical way to live. Every evening I lock up the shutters and head home, just like everyone else on this block. It's a long day but I don't mind it, as long as the work keeps coming in and the machinery stays running and the exchange stays busy.
