Chamunda Kirana And General Store is located at Plot No 4 in Morya Nagar. We are on the Navine Florence Colony Road in the Dindoli area of Surat. One of the landmarks nearby is the SMC Health Clinic, which brings a lot of people past our doors every day. It’s a lively spot to have a business. We see people coming and going from the clinic, and many of them stop in for a cold drink or a quick snack. Our shop is a mix of all sorts of general items. We have everything from soap and shampoo to bags of lentils and rice stacked up in the corners. The space is a bit small, so we have to be clever about where we put things. Working in Dindoli means we get to know a lot of the local residents by name. It feels like a small village sometimes even though we are in a big city like Surat. The evenings are usually the busiest when everyone is returning home from work. We stay open late to make sure people can pick up whatever they forgot earlier in the day. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes, and by the end of the day, we are quite tired. But it is a good kind of tired. We just try to keep the shelves full and the floor clean for the next person who walks through the door.
